5 dead-simple ways to building a content creation system

In Today’s edition:

“Hey Andrew - I have a hard time staying consistent in my content creation efforts. What should I do?”

I know. I know. We’ve all heard it before: The secret is to stay consistent.

But how do we stay consistent? What’s the answer?

Staying consistent comes down to creating a system that allows you to be consistent.

By creating a system that allows you to create, you get into the habit of creating.

The thing is: not many folks out there give you different systems you can use in order to stay consistent.

Today I’m going to give you five different systems that you can try.

These are the 5 systems I have personally used over the past 2+ years of creating content every single day.

Depending on what season of life I am on, some of these systems work better for me.

Give them each a try, and see which one works best for you to be a high-output content creator.

System #1: Daily Time Blocking

⏰

Set a time for your sacred hours.

During your sacred hours (the same time everyday) sit down and create.

Set a timer for 30 minutes. 60 minutes. 90 minutes.

The trick is to do deep work.

Turn off your notifications and any distractions.

You may create more the one post during this time.

The idea is to simply create.

System #2: Weekly Batching

📆

Sit down for a longer period 1x or 2x per week.

I do this for my video content since there is some setup involved.

Advantages: here are that you get to product a TON of content in 1 sitting.

Disadvantages: You really may not be in the mood to sit down and have a super high output during this time. You are more likely to fall off track. If you miss a day, you actually miss a weeks worth of content. Discipline needs to be HIGH.

System #3: Wing It

🍗

Create when you feel inspired.

The thing is: we often feel inspired at times when we are not sitting down in our computer ready to write. My inspiration usually comes in the shower. Definitely don’t have my laptop in there.

Advantage: it makes writing easy.

Disadvantages: doesn’t occur too often. Typically not in a setting where you are ready to sit down and write. Hard to stay consistent.

System #4: Write With An Accountability Partner

👬

This is similar to a “study with me” session.

Get together with someone also on a content creation grind on a weekly or daily basis.

Take the time you set to write content or content ideas together.

You can later expand on the ideas that you come up with on your own time.

System #5: Always Be Documenting

📝

Are you someone who is either always on calls, podcasts, Zooms, or speaking with customers?

Buy a cheap $10 phone tripod.

Document every conversation that you have.

Find the golden nuggets and post those nuggets online.

This is very common with YouTubers and people with podcasts.

I like this method because you can be less intentional about time blocking your content creation.

You are killing two birds with one stone!
