5 Big Data Points To Pay Attention To
Views
Likes
Comments
Shares
Peer Approval
Data Point #1: Views

Views are an easy way to understand if your content is getting traction.
Lots of views = lots of attention.
Minimal views - minimal attention.
BEWARE: Views are the least important metrics. However, they are a starting point.
Data Point #2: Likes

"Likes" tell you that something was good enough for people to thumb the like button.
Likes are better than views. But they aren't the holy grail metric either.
Likes = you are trending in the right direction w/ your audience.
Data Point #3: Comments

Now we are getting to the important stuff.
Comments are important to consider for:
Asking your audience a question
Sparking a debate
Encouraging participation (giveaway, promotion, etc.)
Lots of comments = you struck an opinionated chord & Lots of comments = you found a topic your audience has lots of questions about.
Data Point #4: Shares

Shares means your content was SO FIRE that readers want it attached to their identity.
A share = a public bookmark.
HOT TIP: When you are creating you can use the bookmark test (would I bookmark this?) or the screenshot test (would people screenshot this and send to friends?).
Data Point #5: Peer Approval

Some great signs:
Someone with a large audience engages with you content
Someone with a high amount of credibility engages with your content
Someone you look up to engages with your content
Think. If Gary V liked your content... That means it was good enough to catch the eye of a pro.
