Amazon's 9,000 Layoffs: Bezos Eyes Earth as Fulfillment Center, Sales & Marketing Pros Plot 'Prime' Comeback!
Amigos, have you heard the news? Amazon, you know, the company that practically owns everything we buy, sell, and consume, just laid off another 9,000 staffers! Now, I don't know about you, but when I hear the phrase "9,000 Amazon employees," I start thinking about which warehouse I'm gonna have to personally fill orders in.
But seriously, folks, it's like Amazon is trying to outdo itself in the game of corporate musical chairs. I mean, with so many people being laid off, I'm starting to think Jeff Bezos is looking down from his rocket and thinking, "I wonder if I can turn Earth into one giant fulfillment center."
Now, I know many of us in sales and marketing are thinking, "Hey, what about us?" Well, folks, I'm here to tell you that I've got a plan. We're gonna rebrand ourselves as "Prime Sales & Marketing" – you know, to make sure we're part of the "in" crowd. And if that doesn't work, we can always start a new venture called "Alexa, Save My Job!"
In all seriousness, though, I recently had to purchase a new vacuum cleaner, and I gotta say, I'm pretty sure one of those laid-off Amazon employees packed my box. The vacuum arrived wrapped in enough bubble wrap to keep an entire kindergarten class occupied for a week. I guess they figured if they're going down, they're going down protecting every last speck of dust on that vacuum!
But hey, maybe it's not all bad news. With 9,000 more people out there looking for jobs, I've heard LinkedIn's ad revenue is going through the roof! So, to my fellow sales and marketing professionals, let's just keep our heads up and our LinkedIn profiles updated. Who knows, we might just find our next opportunity in the wake of this Amazon shakeup!

💀 Issue #108 💀
12 lead magnets you can use to print emails and start nurturing potential customers:
Over the past 18 months, I've built a community of over 4,000+ people without spending a cent on paid ads — 100% organic.
My secret?
Lead Magnets.
Here are the 12 lead magnets you can use to print emails and start nurturing potential customers:
1. Cheatsheet
Cheat sheets are basically checklists.
They give users guidelines they can follow for a specific benefit.
People love them because they remove the need to think.
Example:
2. Email Course
Benefits of an email course:
• generate new leads
• nurture new leads
• very low risk
And...
My favorite part...
More touch points = more potential sales.
Example from my community, Brand30:
3. Guide
Guides solve a specific problem.
They can range from 1-100+ pages.
Guides are typically:
• not data-heavy
• easy reading
• conversational
• educational
Example:
4. Checklists
Easy to create from instructional "how-to" content.
Checklists tend to be very practical so people love them.
Want to create one?
• Take a piece of content
• Simplify into bullets
• Remove points with 0 actionable advice
• Split into numbered steps
Example:
5. Webinar
Webinars let viewers watch fascinating videos and ask questions.
Each webinar should address a single issue.
Webinars can generate leads for months or years if offered on-demand following the live event.
Example from our Digital Sales Collective community:
6. Templates
Editable templates help avoid re-creation.
They help people streamline their processes and save time.
You can create templates for anything:
• Social posts
• Emails
• Spreadsheets
• Graphic Designs
Help your audience avoid creating from scratch.
Example:
7. The Costco Sampler
Try before you buy—who doesn't?
You can give a sample of your:
• Course
• Product
• Service
My favorite Costco Sampler lead magnet:
"Give us your email in exchange for the FIRST LESSON of our course (FREE!)."
8. Training Videos
Create a quick vid that provides:
• techniques
• frameworks
• tactics
on one specific problem to solve.
This is a great lead generator if you have:
• complex features
• high-ticket item you are selling
• audience that likes sneak previews
Example:
9. Database
Have you curated a list of anything helpful?
Take that list and put it into a public:
• Notion document
• Spreadsheet
• Google file
I'm always saving hooks, content ideas, and creators to follow.
So I made "The LinkedIn Insiders Database":
10. Product Trial
Very common with SaaS products.
Most software firms' homepages contain a prominent call to action for a free trial or demo.
Why?
They get your email that way.
Some ideas:
• 7-day free trial
• 10,000-word credits
• 45-min recording length
11. Calculator
Why not construct a calculator as a lead magnet for those who deal with numbers?
Some ideas:
• Financial calculator
• Sales calculator
• Cost-to-build calculator
• Earnings calculator
Example:
12. Free software app
You may need a developer for this one.
Build FREE software related to your PAID software app.
For example:
At Taplio we created a free LinkedIn Carousel Generator.
We built this to guide people to the next step in the process: schedule using Taplio.
TL;DR - the 12 lead magnets:
1. Cheatsheet
2. Email course
3. Guide
4. Checklist
5. Webinar
6. Templates
7. Samplers
8. Training vids
9. Database
10. Product trial
11. Calculator
12. Free software app
